Gender sensitive health and safety policy/strategy
Women and men may encounter different health issues inside and outside the workplace, and this may be further influenced by the types of work they do, their age, where they live, and their income levels. Mens' health issues are commonly addressed quite well in health and safety systems, whereas womens' health issues are often less well addressed. Examples include pregnancy, breastfeeding, and caring for children. It may also relate to women having different responses to physical stressors in the workplace, such as exposure to heat and chemicals, lifting heavy objects, driving machinery, working at height, and standing for long periods of time. Mental health factors may also be different for men and women, including issues of personal safety. Please share any documentation that explains how your organisation covers the above topics.
